Peter Hu, PhD, MS, MLS(ASCP)CM, CG CM, MB CM, Vice President and AGT Representative on the NAACLS Board of Directors, has been appointed the new Co-Dean of the University of Texas MD Anderson School of Health Professions effective August 31, 2018. Dr. Hu is sharing this role with Dr. William Undie, EdD. Dr. Hu is a Professor in the School of Health Professions (SHP) and is the founding Director of the Undergraduate Program in Molecular Genetic Technology and the Graduate Program in Diagnostic Genetics. He received his BS in Psychology from Purdue University and his MS in Microbiology from Lamar University. Dr. Hu conducted his graduate thesis work in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Siciliano at the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center and received his PhD from Trident University International in Healthcare Administration and Molecular Genetics. Dr. Hu also holds specialty clinical certifications in Molecular Biology, Cytogenetics, and Clinical Laboratory Science. Dr. Hu began his career in the cytogenetics clinical laboratory at MD Anderson Cancer Center in 1995. In 2003 Dr. Hu joined the SHP where he is the founding director of undergraduate program in molecular genetic technology and the graduate program in diagnostic genetics. During his tenure, the diagnostic molecular science (dms) programs have grown from 3 students in 2004 to 65 students (54 undergraduate and 11 graduate). Dr. Hu has established clinical affiliations with nearly 40 laboratories nationwide. Dr. Hu has received numerous honors and awards and is involved in several professional and societal organizations.
Jeanne Isabel, EdD, MLS, SH(ASCP), MLT Educator on the NAACLS Review Committee for Accredited Programs, has been appointed the first Chair of the College of Health and Human Services, School of Health Studies at Northern Illinois University (NIU) in DeKalb, Illinois, effective June 1, 2018. Previously, Dr. Isabel was the former Program Director of the Medical Laboratory Sciences Program at NIU. Dr. Isabel has extensive experience at NIU. She began instructing there in 1989 but also earned her bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and doctoral degree from NIU. She became the MLS program director in 2006. She is the recipient of numerous honors and awards.
