NAACLS Workshops Update

NAACLS will conduct a new workshop titled, “The NAACLS Self-Study: Guidelines for Program Directors and Volunteer Reviewers,” on February 23, 2017, from 7:00am-12:00pm in Boston, MA (in concurrence with the ASCLS Clinical Laboratory Educators’ Conference (CLEC)). The workshop will include a continental breakfast and working lunch.

The workshop will be presented by:

Maribeth Flaws, PhD, MLS(ASCP)CM, SM(ASCP)SI, Program Director/Acting Chair, Department of CLS at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL. She served as a member of the NAACLS Review Committee for Accredited Programs (RCAP) from 2008-2016 and also served as Chair and Chair Elect of that committee.

Brenna Ildza, BHS, MT(ASCP)SH, PBT(ASCP), Program Director of the Phlebotomy Education Program at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, MO. She serves as the Vice Chair of the Programs Approval Review Committee (PARC) and has been a member of this committee since 2011.

Upon completion of the workshop, and with the opportunity to discuss questions, the participant should be able to:

  • Identify information to be included in the Self-Study for each Standard.
  • List the resources that can be used when writing and reviewing the Self-Study.
  • Recognize required elements of each Standard that demonstrate compliance with the Standard.
  • Assess sample Self-Study submissions to determine compliance with the Standard.

The fee for the workshop is $300/person if you register by 1/10/17. The fee is $325/person if you register between 1/11/17 to 2/10/17).
